Healthy Mothers

New moms who have just given birth or that are still pregnant often don't remember to eat because they are putting everyone else's needs first. But it is very important that she take care of herself. We need moms to be healthy so we can have healthy families.

Here are a few tips:

- All women should take an Omega 3 supplement especially if she is in her 3rd trimester of pregnancy. While the baby develops inside of her, her body will almost be depleted of Omega 3 because of the great need of the baby developing. Under normall circumstances it can take up to 36 months for a mother to regain her normall Omega 3 fatty acids level. Experts now think this may be one cause of postpartum depression. You should check to make sure the Omega 3 supplement you are considering does not contain any contaminants such as this Omega 3,6,9 product.

- Mother's during pregnancy also have an increased need for calories, vitamins, minerals, proteins, amino acids, trace elements, fiber and enzymes. A mother should consider a meal replacement shake or meal replacement soup that contains all the above mentioned. Pregnant women can use them as a snack instead of a meal replacement. This insure the women of getting all the nutrition she needs during pregnancy. These shakes have been known to minimize pregnancy cravings of sweets and salt.

- The recommended 30 to 40 grams per day of protein while you are pregnant is very difficult to achieve. That is why it is recommended for pregnant women to add a protein powder to their meal replacement shakes. Whey Protein Powder Crunch Bars

1 c. Supplement Whey Protein Powder
1 c. Old Fashioned Oats
1 c. Natural Peanut Butter or Almond Butter
1/3 c. Hulled Hemp Seed
3/4 c. Honey
2 tsp. Vanilla Extract

Optional: 1/2 cup very finely ground walnuts or pecans

1. Combine all dry ingredients and set aside.

2. Heat honey in microwave (45 seconds) or on stovetop for a minute. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla until smooth.

3. Immediately add honey mixture to dry mixture until blended.

4. Place wax paper inside a square pan before pouring in mixture.

5. Cut bars immediately. They are harder to cut when cool. (You can then lift the wax paper out of the pan to cut the bars on a cutting board.)

6. Store in the Fridge.

Why We Need to Cleanse!

We need to cleanse for one simple reason - we live in a very toxic world. And these toxins are entering our bodies through the food that we eat, the water that we drink, and the air that we breathe. Toxins can even enter our bodies through our skin.
